Trump will Never see the Inside of a Prison

Trump will never go to prison. And it is not because he will pardon himself or because he will be bailed out by unscrupulous Republicans or even because his diehard supporters will threaten civil war. No, the reason he will never go to prison is because Trump is an extremely dangerous man and a huge threat to the national security of the United States of America.

Trump has sat in national security briefings every day for the last 1,450 days. Although he may not understand the details of what he has been told, he gets the gist of it, and that is all he needs to sell us out to our adversaries. But would he do that? Well, the only plausible scenario I can imagine is if he thinks he might face prison time for the crimes he has committed. If cornered, he will take whatever actions are necessary to save himself, which means he will flee the country if an indictment appears imminent. And unfortunately, Trump has the resources and the connections to make that happen.

Trump may not think he needs to divulge our nation’s best kept secrets to gain safe haven from the likes of Putin or Kim Jong-un, but once he is safely tucked away in their country, beyond the reach of our justice system, he will be pressured and threatened, and information will begin flowing faster than the lies he has told the past four years in office. Even worse, Trump will most certainly demand much more than safe haven from these authoritarian regimes; he will also want to live like a king and will begin trading information for extravagant items and lavish treatment. Once the cat is out of the bag, there could be no end to the amount of damage this one man could do.

People will whine and complain that Trump should be prosecuted, but it is not going to happen. He is going to be treated like any other ex-president. Maybe even better. He will enjoy the full protection of the U.S. secret service and will be allowed to get away with almost anything. While Republicans may ask him to tone it down, he basically has free reign to say and do anything he wants.

And that, my friends, is really scary.
